On the outside of my transom about ten inches above and maybe 12 inches to the left above the brass drain plug orifice, there is another brass drain looking opening about 3/4 inches inside diameter. Is it some type of transducer? Anyone know what this is? It is brass or bronze and it is not a drain plug.

Thanks

Well I believe I have an answer this bronze/brass thing is over a foot long inside the hull and apparently it is connected to the bilge pumps All I am use to seeing is plastic through hulls.

Got a picture? That usually gets a feeding frenzy going.

In some sea rays, the waste tank discharge is located in this area. I haven't seen a bilge pump discharge located here but anything is possible.

This is on your Hurricane deck boat? With the placement of the thru-hull on the transom, it sounds like a thru-hull for a livewell or raw water washdown. Do you have either of those?

The "over a foot long" thing has me stymied, though. Usually, the thru-hull transitions to a hose immediately on the inside of the transom.

Anything listed in the manual?

That was my first thought too. If the thru-hull is below the water line, it is not for a bilge pump. Psuedomind: Are you sure that is a bilge pump that it is connected to, and not a macerator?
I have to disagree. My furthest aft bilge dumps about a foot below the water line confirmed with boat out of water

If your bilge pumps discharge below the water line ,you have much bigger problems

Well Lazy Daze you hit the nail on the head!

Yes this is on my Hurricane

It has a live well, I know what a live well is, but have never used one or had a boat with one on it.

It may not have been quit a foot long, but it did not miss by much. There is the bronze thru hull and then there is a heavy duty sea cock connected to it (1 1/4 inch inside diameter) which has about a three inch long bronze flex hose connector attached to it. I ended up replacing this with a new heavier duty model as when I went to try and close the one in the boat the handle wanted to bend. Apparently the original boat owner had never closed it even though he did not fish or use the live well. I now have it closed as I do not like cruising with an unused below the water line connection opened. If I do decide to use the live well I will open it
