NJ DMV requires a boating safety certificate to add Boat to Drivers license

It is a bit nuts.

Don't forget the boat registration (if you don't have a documented vessel).

I carry a baggie full of stuff: Sea Tow card. Registration (x 4 counting jetskis and blowboat). PA safety card. NJ safety card. Piece of paper with insurance info. Plus $40 in cash (in case I get stranded on my Jet Ski on the wrong side of the bay).

Not sure if I need to carry ID -> except on the SeaRay, where I can occassionally wind up at the local watering hole or at the fuel dock unexpectedly. (Actually, it's the credit card I need -> the Id comes automatically when I grab the wallet)

I wish this thread was posted 2 weeks ago when I went to DMV. I was also told they needed to see my boat certificate to keep it on my DL. Since all I need for my type of boating is the safety certificate (which I keep on the boat) it didn't matter. I also saved 12 bucks. Woo hoo. Oh, and Doug....you'll be back. They always come back. :)
