While not exactly a night mode per se, there is an Accessibility setting that allows you to tint your screen. As a result, you can tint the screen fully red, simulating a night mode. This is great for using your iOS device at night without losing your night vision. Also, it only affects the display, so any pictures you take will be normal color.

To use it, go to Settings>Accessibility>Display Accomodations>Color Filters. Turn the switch on, select "Color Tint", and select your color(red in this case). Scroll down and slide the Intensity slider all the way to the right. Your screen should now be red.

You can then add it to be switched from your Home button by scrolling to the bottom of the Accessibility screen and choosing "Accessibility Shortcut" then choosing "Color Filters" from the list. You will then be able to triple click the Home button to toggle between red and normal screens. The only downside of this seems to be that anything that has a red color will disappear.

On Android, there are various apps that do it to my understanding, just watch out for malware when downloading them. This on iOS, being integral to the operating system has no risk.

I was looking forward to setting this up but it fell apart with the "display accommodations" option - which doesn't seem to exist on my list of options......

I tried it and it works. Thanks for the info.

I should have been clear, yes, it is iOS 10 only.

I'm running os10 and do not have color filter on the list under the accessibility shortcut button. My software was updated to the most recent as of today. Wonder what I'm doing that is different from those who found it.

OP left out one step. I only stumbled on it because I use it so many times trying to figure out the phone.

Settings>GENERAL>Accessibility>Display Accomodations>Color Filters.

Running 10.0.2 OS. Color tints not on the list. Is there a later software version?

Mine has 10.0.2 and it works.

Just updated my iPad and I'm not sure if I like the charts in red , it's difficult to make certain things out I like how the normal charts show depth in different colors and you loose that with the red tint. I took a screenshot of navionics on my iPhone ::

You have it, but settings are notoriously difficult to find. One trick, which is why I left out the General part in my walk through is to actually use Search in Settings. To access Search, simply open Settings and pull down to reveal the search box. Type "Display Accomodations" and it will pop up for you. Select that, and you have three choices: Invert Colors, Color Filter, and Reduce White Point. select "Color Filter" and choose your color and intensity.

You can always reduce the intensity and/or choose a different color of red. This is not an all or nothing thing.

I did adjust it and your correct its much better. Thanks for the heads up
