Nicks in the prop

My 97 250 has a couple of small dings in the prop, probably from some of my rookie groundings over the past couple of seasons. The boat performs OK (22-25 knots at about 3500rpm) from my perspective, but I've read that it can be better. Assuming the prop is the original, would you replace or recondition? Or if you're OK for now with the performance, just leave it? The boat was new to me in 2007.

Hmmm... no idea about your drive. If you have a Bravo III with 2 $750 stainless steel props, then I say spend the $300 bucks to get them reconditioned. If you have a different drive with aluminum props, then price a new prop(s) and call a shop to see what reconditioning would cost. Repaired props will perform just as good as new ones if repaired properly. Cost should be the determining factor.

Oops - not enough info. It's a Bravo II, Aluminum. Thanks for some of the price info. How much of a difference in performance does it make to have the prop done?
 
Get it fixed and get a spare. You'll have better performance, including fuel economy + less wear on your drive if you have any vibration whatsoever.

We have no idea where you are either, but John, the owner of "The Prop Shop" does great work at fair prices. He's who I've used for years and has never done me wrong.
