I was having some fiberglass work done on my boat this week. The guy doing the work had worked for Sea Ray for 8 years on the line building and supervising the hull work on 42's, then the larger ones. He has been doing fiberglass warranty work for MarineMax for 5 years. He said that while Sea Ray produced a lot of boats he never felt like they cut a corner or were asked to rush one through to get it to the next phase of construction. Still very proud of the work he did and managed at Sea Ray.
He also had some interesting comments about warranty work. Not to slam Meridian at all but this week he was working on some gel coat cracks around the stanchion that joins the bow rail to the deck. He put the grinder on it to take the cracks out and it went through the top side. Not enough material. Again, the guy has been involved with Sea Rays daily for 13 years and said he's never seen a situation like that.
Always a good sign when the guys that build them feel good about their work.
