I am going to buy a Garmin 540s with a Garmin VHF 110. Is the stock transducer ok for a 2008 240 Sundancer? Hate to have holes drilled and screws below the water line. Any best practices.

Welcome to CSR.

I assume that you are referring to the depth finder transducer that is standard on your boat. Transducers are NOT universal. They must match the head unit that they are sending the signal to. Your options are to mount the transom mounted transducer that typically comes with your 540s, or upgrade to a thru-hull transducer that would mount through the bottom of the boat - much like your current setup for the standard depth finder in your SmartCraft gauge.

No easy way out here. Grab your drill and a tube of 3M 4200 and have at it!

I have a in- hull traducer which is not a thru-hull which works quite well with my Raymarine A50d Chart plotter with fish finder.

No holes drilled

My other palindrone with this post:thumbsup:

I am a newbie to the forum (first post) and do not wish to hijack this thread but am curious what in-hull transducer you are using. I recently installed a Raymarine A50d and have been reluctant to install the transom mount transducer because of the hole drilling :wow: Thanks!

Typo!! I'm sure you meant 5200!!

No, I meant 4200. 5200 is impossible to remove should you have to take it all apart. 4200 would work just fine here. Besides, it cures faster.

In fact, I am even a little more partial to the BoatLife products. Never had a problem with any of them. They have also been around longer than the 4200 or 5200 products.
