So on my sundeck, which I keep high and dry, I noticed some mild yellow tint to bottom of hull (water line and below. My boat is always pulled out, but occasionally left in for 12 hours.

I know I should hose down bottom and clean more to avoid this stain, but now that its here how can I make bottom of boat pure white again. Tried brush and dish soap.....little efffect.

Thanks

Go to your local marina or boating supply store and purchase some Star Bright hull cleaner. I use the good 'ol fashioned red and blue bottle, but they also have some enviromentlly friendly stuff in a blue and yellow bottle. It's like $15 or less. Just be careful, it is acid and it will burn you. I wear gloves/pants/long sleeve shirt and some safety glasses. Also, the smoke or mist that it produces is harmful to breath in. It will clean your hull!

Fighting watermarks is a neverending battle. When I went to sell my old boat I had success using a 50% solution of bleach and water. It's a little harsh but it did work. Works well on the mildew stained interior also.

Muratic acid or toilet bowl cleaner will work too.

The hull cleaner that surfinjoe mentions will make the yellow color instantly disappear as soon as you spray it on. I forget what type of acid it is, but if you inhale even a bit of it, you'll start coughing and gasping for air like crazy! I've put it into a spray bottle and used it, but I won't do that anymore. I think I'll brush it on if I need to use it next time to keep it from getting into the air.

Slimy Grimy is a good alternative. Works great, but much, much safer. Safe for the environment, too.

I like the sound of it. Do you know if you can purchase at any of the chain stores? Their website doesn't have a "where can I find it?" type link... You can purchase direct, but...rather find locally if possible.

Hmmm. I'm not sure. We carry it, but we get it direct from them (not through a supplier). I'm guessing the only way to find out is to contact them directly, or just start calling local stores.

I used it recently on my boat for that tan/yellow stain around the water line and I used my bare hands. I used a spray bottle of water to wet the hull and just took little chunks of the granules and spread them around with my fingers. It took the stain out instantly. For whatever reason, I didn't feel like mixing up a solution in a spray bottle.
