Newbie question

Sorry for another newbie question...According to the shop manual that came with my boat, it says I have Cobra outdrives. But the previous owner and the paperwork I signed when I bought the boat says they are Apha 1's. How can I tell the difference? The outdrives are painted, so no markings...The boat is a 1988 Sundancer 270 with twin 4.3s. Thanks for the help folks.:huh:

If they are painted black they are most likly alphas

No, the boat stays in the water, the previous owner painted them with anti foul paint when he bottom painted...I would add a picture, but I can't figure out how to attach a photo from my computer, argh!!
