Newbie plan - will it work?

My firm $9K Cash offer pending Sea Trial was accepted after a few days of emails on a '98 Sea Ray 190 Bow Rider with 200 hours. Single owner, kept and maintained at the same marina for the last 10 years in a dry covered rack . The maintenance records look good showing regular (Break Out Another Thousand) maintenance and winterization being done. The owner took good care of the boat and it shows. The broker at Centerville Marina in Chesapeake VA has been pleasant and has educated me in what things to look for. I also got the help from a friend that owns a fleet of boats for rent in Lake of the Ozarks. Understandably so, the owner was a bit reluctant on my offer but being a cash offer and within the NADA ballpark made it easier for him to agree with the offer.

The trailer's hubs were serviced and it has new brakes and new surge brake hardware at the tongue but it needs new tires (hence the lower offer). The boat has a couple of minor squawks (inop stern light and blower) that need attention—both noted by the mechanic’s maintenance records on the brokerage inspection. The boat’s hull/interior/glass is in great shape and will soon be conducting the sea trial to ensure the engine checks out OK.

Thanks for the advice. Will let you know is the Sea Trial goes well.

Wow it looks really clean. I like the anchor locker and in dash cooler. Should have plenty of get up and to with the v8. Best of luck with the sea trail.

The weather has been bad here in Virginia Beach over the last 2 weeks but we finally got a nice day on Monday to do the Sea Trial. The carb had to be cleaned as it had gunk in it and would not run smooth through the range so the seller approved the shop to get the carb done and get the engine running well.

The test went well and was a blast to feel the tremendous acceleration and speed. I liked the cruise at 3000 RPM and felt just right, but full bore was a real treat. The engine temp remained at 170 and the oil pressure steady at 40 PSI. The engine idled and performed perfectly, no signs of smoke or water in the oil.

I handed over the check for 9Gs and the boat is now mine. I plan to move it to the Philly area in a couple of months when the Delaware river is in better shape. If anyone here boats in the Neshaminy area please feel free to give me some pointers on the area. I will check the marina there to see what facilities they have for storage.

Thanks for all the advice.
