Hi all, I'm new Sea Ray owner. Just picked up a 1990 260 CC model. I don't know much about Sea Ray's and since my boat is a pretty old one, I'm hoping to pick you guys' brains often! I'm taking her to the water tomorrow to make sure she floats! wish me luck!

Congratulations and welcome to CSR!

Welcome aboard.

Thanks so much guys, Do any of you leave your boat in a slip? or do you load and unload it? I had a sailboat before this one and we just left it at the marina. Since this boat is bigger than my sailboat was I was thinking about doing the same. But I'm concerned about lake slime (Fresh water lake) and making sure the bilge pump works first!

Welcome to CSR!

Which lake Eufaula are you on?
A lot of boats, including mine, stay in a slip year round. Periodic haul outs for bottom washings take care of any slime. Your bilge pump certainly should be checked regularly, along with the batteries & charger that supply the power to it. Is your slip covered? Reliable shore power?

Welcome aboard. We moor in fresh water with out any problems. Shore power and a good marine battery charger are handy so you can be sure your auto bilge pump will always have power. Before shore power we had a good solar panel system with a regulator to charge our batteries. I visit our boat at least once per week just to make sure everything is good. Goog luck, and post some pics when you can please.

Welcome aboard! Keep your boat in a slip if you use it frequently. If you only use it a couple of times a month, you may as well keep it on a trailer to save some dough. The way to minimize the slime is to use it often! Your boat would also be pretty easy for you to jump in the water while at anchor and give a quick scrub with a deck brush.

Lake Eufaula in Alabama, it's a man made lake on the east side of Alabama and the west side of Georgia, on the Chattahoochee River. Thanks for all the feedback! we do have access to shore power and water. at this time my boat doesn't have a shorepower connection, but I can add that pretty easily. cost of staying at this marina is fairly cheap... only $75 a month! we love it there. I did find my bilge pumps are not in working order but so far that is the only thing that doesn't work! we took it to the river yesterday and it did great!! can't wait until summertime when I get to pull my kids on the tube and skis! I will snap some pics soon!! again thanks for all the feedback.

Yup, for $75 a month it's kind of a no-brainer to keep the boat in the slip. If you do that you'll be using it a lot more often because no matter how easy it seems to run home, hook up the trailer and launch the boat, it's much easier and faster to just go to the slip and hit the water.

BTW, there's kind of a standing rule on boating forums.....if you don't post pics of your boat, your family using it and pics of the water you boat on, it didn't really happen. We all like to see pics of each others' boats.

:) I'll get some as soon as possible! thanks again for all you guys!

Do you guys start a new thread for each topic or just continue on with the same thread? Last site I was on they were pretty strict with the threads... so it was easy for people to look at old ones to learn what to do or not do? I poked around on here and I didn't see anything that jumped out at me on thread use.

The site has an advanced search feature. The intent is to be able to look up a specific topic of keyword(s) so that like subjects are not re hashed over and over again. Most users however have had better luck using Google and including "Club Sea Ray" in the search words....( Club Sea Ray Alpha 1 ).

If you have no luck with that, start a new thread in the appropriate forum. Be specific with your thread title. You will get better/ more responses & future readers will know exactly what the thread discusses.

Hope this helps.

Welcome to the club I have a 90 260 CC and if you have any questions I might be able to help. I have done a lot of work to mine mainly electrical.
