If this is already a thread on this forgive me but I just got my renewal documentation from USCG. Now instead of a simple sign and fax it back, I get a bill for $26 and a letter stating that as of 11/10/14 the renewal fee is $26. So much for fee-free USCG renewals.

That's weird.... It's not even November 10th yet.... Did they arbitrarily decide to start charging the fee prior to the stated implementation date?

Great. Another way for them to suck the money out of me.

I just renewed mine so I have 1 year's grace. It is still cheaper than even what I pay to register my PWC with the state. tey will get you either way.

I wonder how many people they will have to hire to process this new $26 yearly fee.

The renewal service will be privatized, the current admistration's method for its "hide the pea" accountability. Some minority owned company will be paid $25/renewal to open an envelope, and press a few keys on a keyboard to trigger your documents and place your check in a deposit bag headed for the bank.

Are you just joking Frank, or do you actually know something?

I think we've discussed this issue before. I don't have an issue with the fee. I think it's reasonable. I just wish it was for 2 to 5 years, or at least have the ability to pay for multiple years.
