Hello all - hope your enjoying the season. I am planning on installing a TV in my cabin and would love to know how to run power. I am pretty good at running cables but never ran any electrical on a boat. Subsequently, I have a few dumb questions.........

1) Can I run the power from the panel and put in a separate breaker for the TV?

2)What gauge of wire should be used?

3) Is the liquid electrical tape worth a ****?

Thanks in advance.

I take it you have no 110V outlet near the TV? is there one in another location you could tie into?

I ended up running two wires from the helm fuse box and ran them under the aft cabin through the port side, behind the galley and into the area pictured. The tv works off of 12v and as you can see I ran a 12v outlet so that I may power my iPhone while my phone is hooked up to the TV using component cables. I can now watch Netflix and any Internet based service I want. PERFECT for our needs !!

I like it. I have a similar idea but mounting the 12VDC outlet on the cupboard up in the corner. I don't have the nice storage above the seating on my '00 as the '04s have. It looks great though.

Since no one told me about which gauge to run I ended up running 14ga to the accessory lighter/outlet and fused it with a 20amp. I probably won't ever draw more than 5amp.

That's funny about the makers I didn't even notice it was in the shot. I ran the manufactures recommended gauge for the tv which only draws 4amp on the high settings.

One of the best things I have installed to date! Great for the kids!
