496 375hp Bravo III drive
Hi Everyone. I just took delivery of a 2005 270SD. It has the 496 375Hp motor and Bravo III drives. The boat had just under 100 hours when I bought it. It has every option available I think. It has the wake board tower also. I took delivery of the boat at the lake I have a second home on, Seneca lake NY. The first day I had the boat it ran very well except for running a little rough at first. It smoothed out after a little while. The speedo was not working so I called the dealer and he mentioned that since the outdrive had just been serviced to check the tube going into the outdrive. I checked it out and sure enough it was not plugged in. The boat rau well but not as fast as I was told it would go...just under 40. The next day I took it down to the marina for fuel as it was getting pretty low. I filled up and spent the day on the water. The boat ran very well but wouldn't get over 35. The next weekend I took the boat out agian and the boat would not go over 25 and it was running rogh again. I only went out for a short ride and put it away for the night. The next day I took the boiat out and could not get it to plane. It ran extremely rough and stalled. Once out I couldn't keep the motor running in gear. I tried to reverse the props in case I got something tangled around the props but that did not help. I manged to get the boat back to my dock and played with it a bit but I cannot get it running well.

Does any one have any suggestions???

Sorry to impose upon you guys on my first post.

Hopefully here is a picture of the boat.

It's the one in front. LOL

Just a thought but did you change the water seperator?
Todd

I have a mechanic doing just that as we speak. The boat is at a second home so it is hard for me to get parts and do the work on my own. I figured I would have a pro check everything else while he is at it.

So the boat is back from the mechanic. The problem was a bad impeller on the fresh water side. What was happening was that the boat was getting into the overheat zone. Mercruiser built in a system in this engine to protect the engine from all sorts of problems such as overheating or low oil preasures, etc.
The system was shutting down cylinders to protect the engine. It runs great now and the boat is surprisingly fast for such a big boat. I did not do a full throtle run yet as I had a boat full of people this past weekend but I did hit 45 pretty easily. That is only speedometer indicated speed as I do not have a GPS in the boat yet. The boat is great for Seneca lake as it can get a little rough at times. It did get pretty rough this past weekend for a while but the boat handled it very well.
