Hi Sean....I'd also like to welcome you to CSR. I'm not sure if you are an experienced boater or not but keep in mind that heading offshore requires serious attention to safety. It is no joke if you head offshore and your boat is unreliable, you are unaware of the weather forecast, you don't realize that crossing the gulfstream can be treacherous, you haven't any idea about fuel consumption, use of VHF radios, navigating, ditch bags, EPIRB's, flares, life vests and a whole lot of other unforeseen situations. You also may want to consider your first offshore trip with another boat. Lastly, crossing an international boundary requires proper registration, documentation and other paperwork. I'm not trying to be a Debbie Downer but too many times inexperience leads to tragedy. Perhaps this is information that you or anyone else reading this can use.
Man, if anyone has an issue with what was written here then for sure they should not be on the water.
Just this past weekend there was a fatal accident in the waters of Miami. Unfortunately, a boat mate slipped off the side of the vessel and the propeller got him. It was a 70+ ft vessel. Sad. I'm not trying to shed light anywhere else, just that we all must be safe, no matter what. Maybe it could have been avoided.
