Hello everyone, just picked up a 2003 320 SA. Drove it from Miami beach to Boynton, about a 4 hrs drive. Boat ran well but that dam beeping sounds every few minutes. I have searched and seen all kinds of solutions but before I start tearing things apart I figured I would ask again for help.

Boat, 2003 320 twin 5.7 V drives 310 hrs on motors. It passed a completed survey with minor issues and had a mechanic do compression tests and those passed also.

Run at about 3600-4000 rpms the who way up
temp stayed at about 180 for both engines
Oil pressure was about 50

seas were 2 -4 we bounced around a but but all in all a nice ride.....except for the dam beeping. It did it until I shutdown at the new slip. It started when I started the trip at the marina on Miami. It did not beep during the survey, go figure.

2 beeps every few minutes. I never saw any issues with engines, some water in bilge but minimal.

Since I am new to Sea Rays, what am I doing wrong or where can I start to look/test. Checked oil levels at the dock and they were OK per the dip stick. Boat starts up OK. Gen starts OK. Not sure where to head from here.

THanks in advance

320 DA..... Twins? Check the outdrive oil? 2-3 foot seas, one or both may be a touch low causing them to alarm intermittently as the reservoir levels slosh back and forth.

It sounds like an engine alarm, unfortunately you'll probably need have it looked at by a Mercury mechanic - they will need to plug into the Smartcraft port and see what fault codes are set. If you have the Smartcraft SC1000 guages, you may be able to display the fault on the speedo (although "Engine Fault" is not going to help you much). If you have the LCD SC5000 display, you can bring up the fault codes on that. I'm not sure what year SeaRay started installing the Smartcraft gauges which is why I'm not sure what you have.

Good luck.

Congrats on picking up your new to you 320! I'd drive over to the marinemax that's closest to you and talk to one of the mechanics there. I have a great mechanic that used to be a head mechanic for MM that now has his own mobile service, but I'm in Fort Lauderdale and not sure if he will come up to BB, but if you email me at barry.g@mac.com I'll give you his info. Great guy, knows his stuff, and honest. I've recommended him to a few friends and they all use him now too. Barry

You don't have the Smartcraft guages, but your engines are Smartcraft-ready. I added the SC1000 guages several years ago to my 2002.

Back to your problem - you can try the IAC, but honestly, it could be a lot of things - the 2 beeps every two minutes is a basic warning. The only way to be sure is to have someone check it with a computer.

I willing to bet the IAC valve. Replaced one last month, now the other this month.

From your description and if I understand what you are saying correctly, the exact same thing happened to us on our 280. Two beeps every 60-90 seconds or so. For a couple of days, the techs connected any gauge they could think of to the engine. Nothing. The boat ran fine during testing but the beeping would not go away.

Finally, one of them concluded that it had to be an electical issue. All the obvious wires looked okay. He then reached in back of the engines blind and started feeling along wires. After a few minutes I heard an "Ahaa." If I understood his explanation correctly, he found a wire behind one engine that was crimped or caught between a bolt or something when the engine was either dropped in or bolted down. Vibration and contact caused the insulation on that wire to wear away after a number of years.

The bare spot on the wire caused some kind of a short, which brought about the beeping. I think the short was caused by the bare spot melding with another wire or the bare spot touching a piece of metal. At any rate, he either cut out the bad spot and reconnected the ends or put something over the bare spot on the offendng wire. Viola, no more beep, beep every 60-90 seconds. He did all of this by feel.

Oh man, I feel for you brother.
I had a 2003 280 for two years and spent over $1000 trying to fix the 2 beeps/minute alarm and never did :(
Finally sold the boat for a 2004 340 which I haven't taken possession of just yet due to poor customer service where I purchased the boat.
Hoping I won't have to go through the same thing again with this boat....if I do I'm done with Sea Rays!!

My 33 DA beeped every 2 minutes that drove me to drink, but that is a different story. It was my CO2 detector beeping. I replaced that but the beep continued. To find out if the batteries are not charged or going bad it triggers the CO2 detector beep. New batteries solved the problem.

Barry, Corey is coming out tomorrow. I will give him a heads up on all the things you guys all came up with. Let me to you 4 hrs of that beeping sound drove me nuts. I have not started the boat since just so I don't have to hear it.

Will let you guys know what the mechanic finds. Will check CO2 sensor and great idea about starting one engine at a time to see if it happens then the other.

Thanks again guys

sounds good... Corey is a really good guy...

Let us know what he finds.

Mechanic was out this AM. He hooked up all his equipment to it and found the starboard engine IAC valve needed replacement. Barry, Corey was there on time very honest and explained everything to the tee. I will use him going forward.

Thanks all for your assistance. Hopefully I will be out on the water tomorrow

Had the same exact problem. 2 beeps every minute. 350 mags with V-drives. Had a mechanic put the computer on the engines today. It turned out to be a bad Oil pressure sender. He replaced it and no more beeping! Good luck.

Just curious...did the oil pressure read correctly prior to the diagnostics?

Did the starboard engine have any trouble at idle? I have occasional mystery beeps as well and have been wondering what the source may be. Both engines idle fine but I am wondering if IAC valves could be the culprit(s). Tech hooked up a computer and it read low drive oil. Added oil, beeps reduced, but still some there. Maybe hook up the computer again, I guess...

On my AIC alarms, I had the little flashing AL in the upper right hand corner of the digital area of the Tach gauge of the engine that had the alarm. Very small and hard to see
