260 Mercruiser with Alfa 1
Hi to everyone, I have been lurking on here reading as much as I could in the last few weeks. This is my 1st boat, wanted something big enough to sleep on and have a head for my girls! The boat is in need of some TLC but has a new engine, (2 hrs) and rebuilt out drive. Mercruiser 260, Alpha 1. I have not had it in the water yet, had a survey done everything came back pretty good except for the obvious, seat cushions on the exterior and cleaning up. Here are a few pics from when i went and looked at it, crack's me up that people do not clean up stuff to sell it, all the boats I looked at where filthy, but one.

Looks like a great place to start. Some scrubbing, some new upholstery, and it will be looking good before you know it. 1 piece of advice, make a list, and do 1 thing at a time or you risk being overwhelmed. Keep the pics coming!

1sugg,
You all but stole my thunder. I just bought virtually the same boat last week. Mine's an 83 as well with the same color scheme and interior. I had it out for the first time yesterday and loved it. Im sure you will enjoy yours too.

Congrats & Good Luck with your new purchase!! I had my "79 260 for 20+ years and loved it. Your pictures brought back some good memories. I do have a couple of suggestions for you. The first is Cetol for any of the teak on that baby. I also had 12vdc automotive oscillating fans installed in both berths and the galley area. These were life savers when spending the weekends at the beach and trying to sleep. I eventually installed a 5k btu widow a/c unit in the fwd bulkhead after seeing it on another boat. I just opened the anchor line locker when I ran it and it kept the boat comfortable. Best of luck!! You will enjoy this boat! Todd

Thanks for all the positive comments. I was busy yesterday throwing away trash, and figuring out the camper canvas. It came with all new canvas to enclose the rear, does not match the Bimini top but its all thier and new. It should clean up well, I am trying to get it cleaned up and service the engine and the out drive might do a lake trial this weekend.

Looks like a pretty good starter boat! I think you'll like that model.

Good luck and welsome aboard,
