Hey everyone,

I'm new to the forum and the Sea Ray community. I've been boating in the Wrightsville Beach area for years. Were buying a 2001 Sea Ray 290 Sundancer down in Myrtle Beach. We're planning to drive the boat up this week to our boat slip.

Are there any fellow Sea Ray owners in the region? We tend to do a lot of boating around the Figure 8/Lee Island area along with the Masonboro Island area. I've noticed quite a few Sea Rays that hook up together and have a fun day on the water.

I've included a picture, so enjoy!

Welcome aboard brother! Shoot a compliment to the gang in the raft off and good chances you'll be joining them.

Welcome aboard and jump right on in to the cabin fever debates. You will find a great many for your reading pleasure.
We tend to chew on our own here mostly in good fun.

Once boating season starts the thread will take on a more laid back feel. LOL.

Seriously, this is the greatest boating site on the net.

BTW you have a great looking boat.

Thanks guys!

I look forward to engaging in some good conversations here. Don't worry, we are very mindful of others around us, and we always watch our wake. Unfortunately, it seems like anyone can drive a boat these days without proper courtesy or training, because boating in the Wilmington area is always an 'every man for himself' atmosphere. Usually the bigger boats are more mindful, but a lot of the smaller guys just don't know the rules (almost hit someone who cut in front of me last year when I had the right of way and called him out on it, he had no idea what the rules were).

Fortunately, one thing they did a couple of years ago in NC is made everyone under 26 take a boater safety course and pass a test in order to drive a boat as the PIC (pilot in command, an aviation term I use frequently). I went to the course, and found that they simply teach you to pass a test. It's a good first step, but they should expand the age limit past 26 and teach you more about actual boating, in my opinion.

Welcome to the forum. It's spring out here in the west so everyone's a bit more mellow now that they can start using their boats again. I'm hearing horror stories from the north eastern states though. Something like 14" of snow somewhere in Michigan recently. Those are the guys that'll still be suffering from cabin fever.

Nice boat. How far is the trip to get her home?

Yeah I read that thread too.

Thanks! It's one of the most beautiful Sea Ray's I've seen in a long time, but then again I'm biased because it's mine.

It's about a 100 mile trip to drive her home. The family and me have already plotted out marina's and cheap fuel docks along the way. I'd say it'll be a good 4 hour trip. I don't say 3 hours because we all know that'll jinx it!

Have a good trip, hope the weather channel cooperates with you. That's a heckuvva way to break in a new to you boat too. Have fun.
