Hi! I am a new member though a long time boater. I have a 400DB and berth her in Northern VA up the Neabsco Creek (off of the Potomac River). I have had several Sea Rays prior and love this one for the space and entertaining area. Plus, I have her outfitted with a hydraulic swim platform for the PWC (for the wife and kids use of courseJ ) Anyway, I see a lot of great comments and uses for the site and will use accordingly. Also, if there are Potomac River boaters out there (as I have seen on a few postings) we would love to catch up / raft up. I have been member of multiple clubs and tend to do a lot of raft ups with those folks as well (PWYC the most). Happy boating to all and see ya on the water!

Welcome aboard Michael !

We are out every weekend that is nice. This holiday weekend we will be heading south to Tims II, Colonial Beach and Quantico area, I want to check out the WWI wooden boat graveyard.

How old are your kids?

Randy,

Thanks! Son will be 3 in Sept and 2 girls from 7 to 13 (hands full). As well as 2 golden retrievers and a patient wife:)

Are you berthed at PWM? Bunch of them are heading to Tall Timbers this weekend (departing tomorrow). We will be hanging around Mattawoman area and Tim’s 1 due to a bunch of neighbors coming down throughout the weekend.

Michael;

Bought my boat at PWM, but no room for it there... I think next time it will be part of the sales deal... The fairways are pretty narrow too, so I would need "training wheels"

I slip at James Creek in DC. My son is 8 and daughter 20. It looks like we will be doing day trips this holiday instead of overnighting anywhwere. I have a basset and a aussie shepard mix, both are tough to overnight with and my pet sitter backed out on me.

Give me a shout on the radio, or drop me a pm here if you want to chat more.

Hi Michael,

There are several of us on the board here who have purchased their boats at PWM, but I believe that most of keep our boats elsewhere. Personally, I'm at Fairfax Yacht Club and have slipped previously on Neabsco Creek. We have a 14 year old son, a 26 year old daughter and a 24 year old son. Our trips out (which are usually around the Occoquan to Quantico area) involve either the younger or older kids, but not usually all together. Hope we can meet sometime.

Welcome. We keep the '03 420DA at MCB Quantico. Bought used 260DA and 320DAs from PWM, then we found the current boat over on the Bay. Still buy most of my diesel at PWM.
We haul at Hampton's Landing on Neabsco Creek when required. We live 5 minutes from Neabsco Creek.
Two boys, almost 4 and almost 7. One black lab, one golden retriever.
One extraordinarily patient wife.

One river full of debris, but we are going boating anyway.

regards

Skip,

How's the debris south of mattowoman? I am heading south to Coles point with one of you old dock mates "Ryan's Hope" and was wondering how bad it is out there.

Micheal,
I have three kids, ages 14,18, and 20 and one impatient wife:smt021. Nervous, might be a better description... I guess I shouldn't have told her that the boat didn't come with brakes:wow:. Anyway, welcome aboard and I hope to see you and "Just Another Itch" out on the river.

regards,
Harold

Thanks Mike, Skip and Harold,

It seems as if we all have bought our boats once or twice from PWM. I bought this last one from a gentleman in Upstate NY on Lake Ontario. Then I proceeded to captain her home via the many never ending locks and beautiful sights of West Point (on the Hudson), Statue of Liberty, Manhattan, Atlantic City (Trump Marina), Cape May, The C&D cut and then onto the home sites of the bay and the river.

Look forward in catching up with you on the river.

Harold,
Last Sunday the area between Mattawoman and Quantico was really, really bad. I was at my slip today washing the boat and the river looks much cleaner. Moondancer (Sam in his 29 AJ-probably going to trade her in on the 31DA with Sea Cores and Axius) took off around 0900 and was up on plane approaching the channel marker-so it must be clear towards the channel. A sharp eye at the helm is critical, at least for the stuff you can see. I hit submerged debris last year and nearly tore off the port underwater exhaust. Nothing you can do about the stuff you can't see.

Are you all still around? I am relocating to the area and would like to discuss the Potomac with the experts. We are used to the ICW so the Potomac is new territory for us.
