New to Cruising Lake Michigan

The dredging update was on the agenda for the May 10 Port Sheldon Township board meeting. However, no representatives from Consumer’s were in attendance. Found this language from an old permit (Google search) different location which could apply. MICHIGAN DEPARTMENT OF ENVIRONMENTAL QUALITY WATER RESOURCES DIVISION PERMIT…..No dredging is allowed from April 1 to June 14 or from November 1 to December 14 due to critical spawning, migration, and/or recreational use periods.
Consumer’s Energy completed the dredging of the Port Sheldon channel to Pigeon Lake in March 2024.

I wonder who will maintain that channel once the plant shuts down...
That's the big question. . . Hopefully the state of MI will maintain it. Maybe the Corp of Engineers, but I don't think it qualifies as a "federal waterway". My understanding is that if no one will maintain it, Consumers will have to remove it, and it won't be long before pigeon lake is no longer navigable.
