Thanks for the input. The dealer I met with told me that you couldn't trailer anything larger than 26' because of the width. I was hoping to keep it in a slip, but be able to take it to other lakes if we wanted to. Since you have a 30', it sounds like that might not be true.
He's obviously hoping to keep your boat in his marina? You can tow whatever you'd like if you have the proper permits and tow vehicle. The limiting factor has nothing to do with length, but the width and height of the boat. Anything over 8'6" wide requires a permit. Anything that is over 12" wide requires pilot vehicles front and rear. We tow our 30 footer all over the place and I figure the cost paid to the marina owner now goes to the tow vehicle. It's probably a wash and can be justified a variety of different ways. Do what's right for you and get the boat that makes sense and above all have FUN!
