Well I want to say hello. I have just aquired a what is seems as though a 77 srv 22 overnighter. 20160513_180735.jpg

Correct? lol

I see some repairs needing attention but have to say the boat is surprisingly in decent shape. I Know seals are worn out and will require replacing. Upholstery will be required. Some minor( fingers crossed) floor work will be needed in the front bow area. The engine runs, (needs tuned) the out drive seems to be fine. No holes in the hull, steering etc is functional.

So here is what I am curious about. I am going to need a new water tank, prolly transfer pump too, bilge which I can pick up locally or online, Side port windows replaced. Front anchor door is in bad shape would like to replace this along with the latch as well.
Where can one find these items for this old of a boat? or do we need to fabricate them?

I also would like to see if anyone has one of these smaller vessels that area finished or in greater shape than ours as i would love to see some pictures of what this looked like finished.

Thank you in advance.
Sean

You can find some of the older parts at fpmarine.com

Good luck and welcome to CSR!

Welcome to CSR.

You might be able to find some of the parts online or from salvage yards but I'd be prepared to fabricate a few of them yourself. Old boats aren't like old cars. I'm having trouble locating a few parts for mine and it 20 years newer than yours.

Good luck,

Welcome to CSR. You will find a lot of great info here from some very knowledgeable folks that are willing to share and help. Good luck on your project. Nice boat by the way.

Thank you all for the great greetings. I hope i can learn from others here. I am a car builder by trade and have always loved boats. So fabrication shouldnt be an issue. Actually think it might be a little fun. This is my second one and only sea ray. So far I am digging the vintage look.
I would like to take these lines and modernize it and make an era change. But we will see what happens and how far we get lol.

1. What would be a great alternative to the teak wood? Can anything else be used?

2. I also would love to find a camper or enclosure. Is there any place I can look online? Or is this also another custom deal?

Thank you

Welcome to CSR, it's been a great place for me as well, great group of people, good luck on your journey.

Welcome aboard

Well gentleman. It appears as though some of my boating skills of buying, didnt work out so good. It seems to be safe to say that my floor and port side stringer is beyond rotted. I maybe not posting in the correct area but. Does any of you fellow boaters have any idea if a stringer can be scabbed to? I think ( havent pulled the tank out yet to confirm) the rear cradle where the engine is is still tight ( i hope). I see no delamination in that area. Yet!

I think that even though i would like to think that its the port side stringer only i have a feeling it will be the starboard side as well. Keep fingers crossed.

I do see that there is a ton of foam in there. Does this have to be reinstalled?

But on the flip side If this is the case I think i will smooth the floor and maybe try to redesign the cabin a bit. That is a good thing

Not sure what you mean by "scabbed to" but if your stringers are rotted, the structural integrity of the hull is severely compromised.

Usually, the rotted material is removed and replaced and then fiber-glassed over in place.

I ve watched the frisco boater on iboat.com. seen his video and seen he just removed the rotted portion not 100% of the stringer. It was more like 18" of the rotted.

Thats what i ment by scabbed.. sorry.
