I just replaced the tach/hr meter in my 225 WE 5.0L Merc, with the OE replacement from Flounders.

The tach works fine, but the LED hour meter just displays 0.0 hours. I sea tested the boat last weekend and put around 5 hours on her and the display still reads 0.0 hours.

I wired it the same as the old unit that came off: (I did set the selector to 8C - 8 cylinder)

Blue wires (2) to the light
Black wires (2) to the ground
Gray wire (1) to the "I" ign
Pink wires (5) to the "S" Send

Head scratch-er!!

Double check the 12-14 volts at the "ign" post-- pink
grey wire is the feed from the engine ----------- sender
black ---------------------------------------------ground
blue -----------------------------------------------lighting

So it looks like I have the Send and the Ign reversed? Will I damage the tach by switching them around? I believe I shorted out the first one when I removed the panel to service the other gauges. Funny - the tach functions with them reversed.

Thanks Doc!
