I need some advice on towing with an suv. I have a '98 215 express cruiser and want to tow it with a 2007 pathfinder with a tow cap of 6000lbs. I will be towing only twice a year in the begining and end of season and about 200 miles to marina. The boat is 3800# and the trailer is 1000# and the extras 500#???

You should be fine. I tow my 230OV with my Suburbans. Both are 1/2 tons and they do fine. As long as you're not pulling Mountain passes for hours at a time you should be fine, especially only twice a year.

Are you using the dry weight figure from SR site? If so go fill up your boat with gas, water and all your toys and tow it to a truck stop that has scales and have it weighed. Cost about $10-20 bucks and you will know for certainty how much your boat weighs in at.

You also need to look at your combined weight. Truck and trailer with people and load in the truck.

Go slow, what is it they say it's not the going, but the stopping that get you :smt100 . Most of the times it is not even you, but the crazy that pulls in front of you and slams on their brakes :smt021
