My wife and I bought a 2001 260 DA at the end of October.
We are keeping it in Wakefield on Point Judith Pond next Season.
A 5.7L EFI with a Bravo III, it only had 254 hours on it. We put another 30 on it before pulling it out a couple of weeks ago. It came with a nice bunk trailer and it nows sits on our property waiting to be shrinkwrapped. I winterized it myself with the help of the previous owner. The boat needs nothing, it was a real "turn key" boat. Ceramic manifolds and risers were put on last spring, along with a new gimbal bearing and bellows. The previous owner changed the oil and filter every 25 hours! I removed the outdrive for the winter and it shows absolutely no corrosion. All the canvas is perfect, and the cockpit seats are in incredible shape. As you can probably tell, this is the boat of my dreams.
If any of you are on the pond next season give me a shout.

Pete

:smt038:smt038:smt038:smt038:smt038 Congratulations on the DREAM Boat purchase and to the CSR Crew...

Pete, we will see you at the "world famous CSR Renedevous " on Block Island......Congrats
LOL, you heard it hear John is organizing BI 2012!!! Way to go paint....

Congrats Pete. I trailer to that area as well. We have another 260 owner right up the river from you in Fall River as well.

Thanks for the welcome. We are at the very Northern end of the Upper Pond (Pt. Judith). The area is great, and Block Island is really close. We considered moving up into the Bay but I like this area better for our first year with the boat. There are two other 260s at our marina, in fact we will be slipped right next to them. I've been thinking of all kinds of trips, to Cuttyhunk and beyond, to P Town through the Canal, but especially the short hop over to Block. Do you guys drop an ancor, grab a mooring, or rent a slip?

No offense paint but you haven't had the best of luck putting a group together in the past. I vote for Alex again!

Pete,
Welcome to CSR and good luck with your new purchase. It was nice of the PO to show you how to winterize the boat. The fellow I bought my boat from, Robert, helped me immensely in getting it ready for spring over in NJ. Then he ran the boat all the way from Jersey back to my home port on Long Island. He even bought the donuts and coffee! What a great guy, we are still good friends.
I had an older 260 and LOVED it. What a great boat! I'm sure your's is much nicer! Post some pics when you get a chance.

Hey Pete,
Congrats on your purchase. My wife and I just bought a 2000 260 da around the same time. Mine does not have a trailer so wasn't able to get in the water before winterizing/storing. It's killing me to have bought it and then put it right into storage. How did it run for you when you put the 30 hours on it? I am anxious to see how it rides. I'm in Boston so plan on taking down the cape, Plymouth and gloucester next summer. Can't wait! Good luck!

Congrats on the new boat. We love ours. Almost time to go bigger.....
Mooring in Block is what we did.

Hi Ron:

Congats on your new boat!
It ran great! Part of that 30 hours was a 50 mile trip where I got to see how well the boat handles under varying conditions. It planes off well and the trim tabs really help to smooth things out. You are going to be nuts over your new boat too. The previous owner told me I put more hours on the boat in 3 weeks than he did all summer :) I spent a week at Race point this past summer (on the beach, not in a boat) and I would love to make that trip in the boat. I can't wait for the Spring either!

Congrats on the 260 purchase. I remember when I had bought my 260. It was absolutely my dream boat. The boat was a great boat and served me well. The only issue I had was the coupler had to be replaced. Enjoy the boat. The day we got that boat I was so excited. Today we have the 320, but still miss the 260.

Congratulations on the dream boat, Pete!! Welcome to CSR.

My wife and I boat in LI sound, Block Island Sound, and on up the coast towards Maine, and our home port is up the Hudson River. So, we'll probably see you out on the water this coming summer, especially at the CSR rendezvous.

So, can we start pestering Alex with questions now?? I need to know the dates, and whether or not we're getting a discount???

Alex?? Alex??

We have to start sending him PMs.....

Dale

Welcome to the 260DA club. Post some pictures when you get a chance.

I can't shrink the pictures. When I try to upload them I get a message they are too big. I'll try to figure it out.

Pete
Don't shrink them. Upload them to a site like Photobucket, then simply copy the "img" link associated with the picture you have into your reply.

Pete,
She is beautiful. Best of luck with her. I hope we will be seeing you at the CSR rendevous this summer!

BTW: I hope that you don't mind but I posted a pic of your boat in this reply!
