I'm looking for a high-quality set of replacement speakers for my radar arch. The JBL ones I bought were too deep. Any suggestions?
Thanks!
Paul

Depending on how much additional depth you need, and assuming you are somewhat handy, you can cut round spacers that can go around the speaker and gain you 1/2 inch or more depending on the thickness of the material you are using for the spacer. This is exactly what I did to my JL speakers that needed an additional 1/2 " of depth in my radar arch. I used plywood and painted it white. It looked great for 3 to 4 years but now I could see the paint has hairline cracks that probably only I would notice, so I am going to make new speaker ring spacers from the material (forgot what it is callled) used for cutting boards, bait trays, etc.

I had the same issue and purchased LED speaker rings off ebay. I ran power to them and they look incredible at night! There are different colors available and they have the 1/2" clearance you need. JL are the best sounding speaker in the marine industry hands down! Good luck.

Try googling something like "speaker spacer rings for 6.5" speaker". HDPE (one of the brand names is Starboard) is the "cutting board material" and, as mentioned, not a hard project if you can cut an accurate circle.

I made these from 3/4" starboard all you need is a router. And 2 bits.

Spacer rings are an easy solution, especially if the arch is white. You can typically find it in a variety of thicknesses. you can also do acrylic rings loaded with LEDs for a little bling factor.

For a shallow mount, look at Polks shallow, dont remember the model off hand.

Thanks guys! I think I'll try the spacers. Those JBL speakers are fantastic and I'd like to use them if I could.

Nice job Joe! Now I'm going to bust out the router. I've had two sets of 6" speakers that we're going to be a direct replacement sitting since last March because they didn't fit.

I posted mine awhile back but I have the same solution as Havana. Def the way to go and it looks neat and clean.

As you see you can make them as wide or narrow as you like i dont need them on this boat but i like the way Scuma made his narrow. Clean look

Wow very impressive.

Stick with the JL Audio speakers, IMO best around for boats. I have the M series speakers and subwoofers, with 3 amps driven by a Kenwood DDX deck. Crystal clear whether listening at a low volume or shaking the leaves on the trees in the canyon inlets.

Don't have a pic, but my M 7.7 arch mounted speakers have 2-1/4" spacers to optimize the units.
