Haven't been to searay.com in a while, and just saw the new 'Smart Start' pricing strategy on the SPX line. That is *very* aggressive pricing, can't see how they aren't going after Chaparral and the success they've had with their H2O line. Must say, I'm intrigued by the outboards.

To me they just don't look right. Having a big outboard stuck on the back of the boat makes it not look like a Sea Ray to me.

Yeah, but man...I love the maintenance on an outboard (I have a 1966 Boston Whaler Sakonnet with an Evinrude E-TEC 90). I have a seasonal (summer) slip in my marina, but keep my boat in storage during the week. If I could trim out my engine, I'd probably keep it in for longer periods of time. Speaking of the SPX's, I saw that the Dynamic Running Surface is getting introduced on the 21. Really glad they did that, because I think others in the stern drive space are going to go after the wakeboard/wakesurf market. Has anybody seen the new Four Winns TS222, which has Volvo's new forward facing sterndrive? That is pretty hardcore! Plus it has ballast bags *and* what looks like their version active trim control. I love my boat, but think the 230 SLX w/DRS (which mine is not equipped with, BTW) may have been leap-frogged as the best *stern-drive* wake sport tow boat.

I think the SPX line is a smart move for Sea Ray. I also prefer a clean transom but like Glenn said, you can't beat the maintenance of an outboard. Plus it is a much better option for the brackish and saltwater boaters.

Oh, and it looks like there's Smart Start pricing on the 220 Sundecks, too? Sterndrive and outboard. I think the pricing on the SPX's includes a trailer, but not on the SLX and Sundecks?

Correct, eligible SPX models include a trailer in the SmartStart price, 210 SLX and 220 Sundeck models do not.
