2001 260 Sundancer towed with the power of an IFORCE V8

7.4 L Bravo III
Hi all. I joined the club recently by buying a 1994 Sundancer 230. First boat I've owned but spent most of my childhood on my dads boats. First a 16 foot open bow starcraft and then a 38' fishing boat.

My wife and I plan on spending next summer in the Straits of Georgia cruisen around.
HAve a few thing to do to the boat before then but thats part of having a boat I guess.

welcome......how's your Tacoma do towing that? I tow our 200 Sundeck and wouldn't go over a 220.
Just curious how she does.

My Father in law just bought a '94 230 and put it in winter storage...He will be running it next year on the Ohio river.

Hey Westie,
Welcome. How close are you to the Strait of Georgia?
I live in Marysville and we frequest the San Juans quite a bit.

Like the guys said, edit your signature so we can see your boat's info.

Weave :
I picked the boat up in Sandpoint ID and drove it back to Calgary, a distance of 583 km. It was mostly dark the whole way with every thing from bare roads to light to heavy rain and even snow on the last mountain pass. There were two major mountain passes on the trip home. they both had long streatches of 8% grades.

According to my GPS the average speed was 87 km/hr (54 mph) with a max of 118 km/hr (73 mph) which was when I passed the Uhaul truck towing a car.

Once I was out of the mountains I had no trouble driving at 110 km/hr (68 mph) in 6th gear.

Nehalennia : I'm actually living in Calgary, about 1200 Km from the Straits of Georgia. In the summer I'll haul the boat out there and we'll stay there for most of July and August. We plan on starting off in Comox (I grew up there) At least that is the current plan. My job is being outsourced to China so I will be unemployed. The current view is I will be finished at the end of June ( I think it will be sooner). The only problem with the plan right now is there is a good employment opportunity possible in the near future that could screw up my boating plans.

Welcome Westie, sorry to hear about your job loss...

I just bought your twin a couple of weeks ago but I don't have the 5 L motor, just the 5. Have been towing mine with a 96 Tundra with no problems...

Wondering what GPH your getting. I'm getting around 6 at 3200 RPM...

Anyway, hope you are having a good summer
