Hello everyone,

I just bought my first SeaRay on Saturday, I am pretty excited, I have a couple of basic questions and appreciate anybody who can help this newbie.

I got a 2006 SeaRay 200 Sundeck with 95hrs with a Mercury EFI 5.0 8cyl.

1- That is my first question, how many horse powers is my motor? I found mixed information online, the insurance says something and the previous owner something different so I wonder how I can check? so far didn't found anything in the engine area.

2- The boat is rated for 1500 pounds if I am not wrong, I have a Jeep Grand Cherokee Overland 2014 which is rated to 6000 towing capacity, in the numbers I should be able to tow it, but the boat looks so massive behind the Jeep that kind of makes me wonder. Did anybody towed a boat like this with that vehicle?

I have a couple more questions but I will create a different thread under the proper section.

Thanks in advance!

Your Jeep can to a 20 foot boat. Just need to get used to the size.

First welcome to CSR and congrats on the new boat! I believe the Merc 5.0 has 260 HP. As for the boat, there are several weights to be aware of, the dry weight of the boat itself is 3,500lbs, the max person weight is 8 people/ 1,100lbs, the max weight of persons/gear: 1,400lbs. For towing you should consider at a minimum, the dry weight (3,500lbs) + (any gear stowed on board or in the tow vehicle) + (fuel on board = 6.3Lbs/gallon) + (trailer weight). A shortcut to doing the math would be to ask a marina with a travel lift to weigh it all.

Colo, welcome to CSR. It's always nice to have new members log in and tell us about their boats, but I do need to tell you something. There's kind of a standing rule on CSR that without pictures, it didn't happen.

That's not really true, but it's a nice way of saying we all like to see pics of people's new boats, the waters they boat on, and their families and friends using the boat.

Again, Welcome!

Wait for pictures soon, I dont even had a chance to take it to the lake yet haha.

Thank you very much guys.

Is there any resource to check and confirm what is the Service Manual number I need for my engine? I been looking for more than 48 hours and everything I found when I look at the pictures is not the same engine or serial numbers dont match.

I dont mind to have to buy it (no matter free will be best) but it will sucks spent the money and when receive it find out that is not the right manual.

Is a Mecruiser 5.0 EFI 2005, I cant recall the serial number right at this second but I remember that has a G, like 05G####

colo-pr, Welcome Aboard. I had a 2006 220 Sundeck with the 5.0 and it was 260hp.
You might be able to find some useful info if you go to SeaRay's website and at the bottom of the page click on "Resources" under Dealer info. Then click on model archives and choose your model. You can download quite a bit of info there. Good Luck

I tried that but it says that the basic is 220 but as an option the boat can come with 260 as well, so is not telling me anything lol.
