This is my first post but I have been reading this forum for awhile. I have been in the market for a new boat after moving from Pennsylvania to Norfolk,Va. After moving here and being so close to the ocean, I just had to have me a boat. I have had a few boats that I cruised around in, in some small lakes in PA but nothing like this. I just bought a 1987 Sea Ray Sundancer 270 that I found on Craigslist. It has twin Mercruiser 350's with Alpha One outdrives. The engines run perfect with less than 500 hours on them and the outdrives were just rebuilt. The only thing the boat needs is the seat recovered and 2 new bilge pumps installed. I picked this boat up for 4K with the trailer. It also came with a new AC unit. Here are some pics. I cant wait to get this on the water...

:lol:aHoy,Welcome and good luck, when I started cleaning I hired a steamcleaner and when he was finished the boat had a new look and smell.:smt043worth every penny.:smt038

I never thought of using a steam cleaner. I have access to one at work. I think I will go that route to get the heavy stuff off the hull. Thanks...

Once again welcome and good luck! These boats in my mind are one of the best boats Sea-Ray ever built. My dock partner has an '88 270. These boats are very roomy and very fast for the size of them. Dont skimp on the upholstery! Spend the money and have it done right. My buddy bought his out of Long Island NY and it needed back deck upholstery and restriping. Granted he payed alot more than you but his with all the work done has turned out to be a beautiful boat. We have GPS'd the boat at 43 mph. ALL around awesome boat just do it right. P.S. make sure you have some canvass made for that thing!!

Thanks for the info. I am not skimping on anything with this boat. I can do all of the work on the seats myself. (used to do it for a living back in the day) As for the canvas, I started looking at boat salvage yards for parts so that I can build my own. If that does not work I will have one made by a pro...

Nice boat for the price:thumbsup:. A little love and she'll love you back, or PMS. just depends on her mood. Whats the beam. My 268 is 8.5' and I can't imagine shoe horning 2 350s into her. Although she'd probably have enough power then as opposed to being under powerd.

Nice project boat. Interior looks pretty decent- way better than the exterior.
I'd be really surprised if the plywood seats/backs under all that torn upholstery and foam isn't rotted all to hell. Hopefull they'll at least be in good enough shape to use as templates to cut new ones. Ditto with the vinyl-covered cockpit side panels- had to replace all of mine, they were shot.

Good luck with her and update with more pics as the work progresses.

stevea the 270's have a 10' beam and they are still shoe horned in!!LOL

I love the deck that was added onto the swim platform! That beats my stepladder. Love the older ones. looks like an easy project to get her spick and span, enjoy

Ya the deck is awsome. To hell with step ladders. I like to come out of the water in style... ;)
