:smt100Just purchased our boat. 1999 Sea Ray 280SS Anniv. Edition

When we looked over our boat to purchase, found about 6" of water in the small triangle area under v-berth area in cabin. Any idea where would that have come from?
Dried it out and there are 2 small cracks in the bottom. Does that mean water is below that and seeped up? And if there is water underneath how do we get to it to get it out?

Did you watch and see if the water is coming in from there after you dried it out? The water can be coming from a lot of places, but the cracks are the first place to look.

The boat will have to be out of the water and look and see on the hull if the are cracks in the same place or near. I would have a dealer or a marne surveyor with a moisture meter test the area and see how wet it is. Those results will lead you to what next needs to be done.

Can you post a picture of the cracks?

Maybe rain accumulating in the anchor locker? Mine sometimes will have a bit of moisture on the v-berth cushions after a hard rain. Cracks are worrisome though.
