Just wanted to say Hi from Central PA.....I'm picking up a new to me 1990 270 Sundancer next Tuesday in Ohio. It's on a real nice 2002 Loadmaster trailer. I plan on towing it with my 2003 Ford Excursion 4x4 V10. I currently pull a 7500lb cargo trailer for work and my 1988 CV-23 Glastron Carlson for play. The 454 Bravo 1 is a step up from the 350/5.7L Alpha 1 I'm currently running. We looked at a few 270's with V6 twins but I just didn't want the additional costs on maintaining them. I can't wait to get the 270 on the water next week for the holiday weekend to go see the fireworks on the water in more comfort and style. My wife and I love the cabin layout in the 1990 & 1991, Mike.

Congratulations on the new boat. My boat is very similar to yours in size. The interior layout is different though. I have the 454 Bravo III drive and it is the right amount of engine for this size of boat.

Have fun on the 4th!

Welcome....the '90 & '91 270 was renamed the 290 in 1992...30' 6" loa....you will love it.

Nice where do you boat not much water in central pa . i see ny in your heading

We are located in Williamsport, PA.....we have about 10 miles on the Susquehanna River we play on every weekend. Seneca Lake is 90 miles from our house (Watkins Glenn) and Raystown Lake is about the same distance to our west. Our son is in Erie going to Penn State Berhend and is a senior this year.....I really like the State Park/Beaches there. Rochester is not too far for us to travel either. The 270 will allow us to travel a bit and stay overnights on the water, Mike.

Went for our first ride today! This is the first boat I've had with trim tabs.....I know they are used to level the boat if the people load is not balanced and can get the boat on plane faster but how often are they used to extend the hull length or keep the bow down during using lower engine rpms? The 270 came with a 4 blade stainless prop and I'm running 4400 at WOT trimmed up a bit with no tabs. What is the ideal rpm/cruise speed? 3200rpm seemed to work with some tab down/bow down. My speedo's not working so I'll have to take the gps next time out. I get the feeling this cruiser is going to be fun but a real gas guzzler if running on plane alot, Mike.

Hi and welcome. I live about 8 minutes from Behrend and our boat is at Perry's Landing. Erie is a great place to boat - you might want to give it a try.

Cheers and good luck with the boat. Looks great!

Great boat this was the same as my first Sea Ray good luck

Thanks Everyone for the welcome! We have a lot to learn. We currently do not have shorepower on our docks but I'm working on that. I know using a portable generator onboard is a safety issue. I'll probably take our Honda and leave it out on the dock to test all AC features so when we travel, I know it all works.....AC, Inverter, etc. We have water on the dock and still have to fill our onboard water tank. We won't be using it for drinking so I may put some Clorox/Bleach in it to keep it fresher. Is that a good or bad idea? Thanks, Mike.

Don't just dump some clorox into the water tank. If water is smelly, here is a link to look at: http://clubsearay.com/forum/showthread.php?t=5578

Hope you know what to do to get the A/C working. If not, let us know.

RPM Q - I usually run at about 3600 rpm which gives me 28-29.

If I recall correctly, August is a good time to get some Coho out in the trench on Lake Erie. Haven't done it in years, so, not sure.

Thanks for the info JerryS....never had a boat with fresh water onboard other than bottled. I did try the refridge on 12 volt and it's not getting cold. I do have an accessory switch on the dash but can't figure out what it turns on and off? Any help out there on this one JerryS? I could hear the refridge running....we ran it for 20 minutes and no cold. I'll try it on AC this week. We had an awesome 4th of July watching the fireworks from the 270. They have music on three radio stations here that goes with the show and it sounded great. The previous owner put an Alpine stereo system in it sounds great. The wireless remote even works from the helm to the cabin. We were on the hook Monday for about 4 hours swimming and visiting with friends and other boaters. I was pleased with all the positive comments I received from other boaters on the 270.....nobody could believe it was 20 years old and it does look sharp on the water. We really can see the quality Sea Ray built into these boats. We're happy so far, Mike.
