Hello everyone. I am new here.

I just bought a brand new 2008, 205 Sport with the wakeboard package, gel coat option, cockpit cover w/Tonneau Cover, Depth Finder, and with the MerCruiser 5.0L Alpha I MCM. This is my first boat.

I got an amazing deal on this thing. Basically $24k with everything. Anyway, I bought it in a big rush because the incentives where ending yesterday and I would of lost thousands if I waited.

Anyway, long story short, the boat is missing it's manuals and such. The dealer (MaxMarine) has ordered a replacement manual set, but right now I have this baby sitting in my driveway and I am itching to try it out.

Anyone know where I can get access to the manual(s). I tried the Sea Ray website and got only this 14 page PDF that had very basic diagrams. Nothing on break-in, setup, take down, etc.

I have friends that will help me figure things out, but I would really like the manual. I am really technically and mechanically inclined - I have dirt/street motorcycles, had two RV's, etc. I am used to working/caring for them.

  • Anyone know where I can locate the manual(s) for my boat online?
  • What do you recommend for break-in?
  • Anything else you recommend?
  • I am reading power boating for dummies and it seems quite good actually. Any other recommendations?

Also, I really would like to get a quality fish finder and have no idea on the process of getting it installed (ok to-do myself, or should I have a pro do it). How much should I expect to pay for the installation?

Last thing. This engine seems to not be fuel injected. Is this something I should be concerned about? I was surprised a little. Mind sharing your experience with this motor if you have had it?

Thanks!

Just an FYI: The original rebate period ends on July 19th - a few days ago Sea Ray extended it until August 2nd. No biggie.

There are a number of threads about break-in procedure. I'm sure you can find them with a little searching. However, what does your dealer recommend? Did they give you an orientation?

Fishfinders - look around for the model you like. It'll take you about 1 to 2 hours to install. The instructions that come with them are usually plenty adequate. Very easy.

What about a non-fuel-injected engine concerns you?

That seems like an incredible deal for a brand new boat, evn though it is an 08. Wow, I just got an 09 185 without tower for $22k, but maybe I did not get a good deal, I dont know...
