So I've been "lucky" enough to get a "good" deal on a 1974 Searay. Cosmetically it's pretty roached out, but pending our water test tomorrow with our mechanic (not the current owner) we will probably snatch this up. Current owners only know it's an 18' 74 closed bow, no model information (Basically what the title says) with a 115hp Evinrude outboard. So I'm hoping to get a little more help. I've seen and heard the engine run and it's smooth. Floors feel solid. I know all boats have problems but does anyone know of anything specific I should be looking for.

Not 100% green to boating but it would be our first boat that we own

Check the transom for rot. Hit it with a small hammer. It should sound solid, not hollow. Watch for any flexing on your sea trial. Last thing you need is the engine dropping off. Good luck.
