Hello everyone. Just purchased a 2005 200 Select on Saturday and put it in the water yesterday. I'm from Northwest Alabama, and excited to have a beautiful new (to me) boat. This is the first boat I've ever owned so I am very excited. Found this forum before I bought the boat but just joined today and wanted to say hello!

Welcome aboard and remember to update your signature with your boat/location info.

Ok I think I was able to do that. I will put a picture of the boat in ASAP

Edit: Oops, forgot to put the location in there...

mucscle shoals--is shoal creek country club alive and well? thought that course might be in your place, but not sure.

Made a few trips to the NE corner of your state--Scottsboro and that has some nice boating access.

What lake or river do you frequent?

My Cobalt spent 4 years on Logan Martin Lake with occasional trips to Lake Martin and Lewis Smith Lake as well. I used to dry dock my Cobalt for $50 per month on Logan Martin and I got 2 months free if I paid a year at a time and this was only 8 years ago.

Shoal Creek is a country club in Birmingham, which is about 2 hours south of me. I lived there for about 3 years. As far as I know, it is still an active country club. I have never played golf there, but did attend a wedding and reception there once. Very nice place.

I stay 99% of the time on Wilson Lake, which is a small lake on the Tennessee River. I think it's only about 16 miles from one dam to the next. The other 1% I'm on Pickwick Lake which is much larger. My boat will sit on a lift on Wilson Lake during the Spring/Summer/Fall and then I haven't decided what to do with it once I take it out of the water. Hopefully find somewhere to dry dock it. 50 bucks a month is a great price for dry dock I would think. I've been out on Logan Martin once or twice (not in my boat) and it was a very nice place.

I have a brother in law who lives in Decatur. Next year we are planning a trip from Knoxville down the Tennessee to Decature over 10 days or so. I have fished on Wilson but not in my boat.

I'm not a fisherman, but there is some great bass fishing on Wilson I believe. All I ever do is drop chicken livers off the pier at night in search of catfish. I have heard of many people making the trip from here to Knoxville for the AL/TN game. It sounds like it would be a blast!

Welcome to CSR. You will find answers to a lot of questions here...so just drop in and hang out...it's addictive.:smt024

My wife is from Sheffield, SHS class of '76. We might be up there next month for a combined Class Reunion. She grew up in that area and talks about water sking on Lake Wilson and how nice Turtle Point Country Club and Marina is. Her Dad helped build Wilson Dam for TVA. She still has family there and her nephew owns and operates the "Trading Post" drug store.

She's along way from home now and misses the change of seasons. I'm from Birmingham and have been here in South Florida 35 years....I don't miss the winters.

Doesn't Wilson have one of the highest locks on the TN River? I've done all of the upper part of the river and I'm now working my way down. One of these days I'll make it to Wilson. (I hope, Grin)

According to my wife, Wilson Dam has the highest single lift lock east of the Rockies. I don't know...I never looked it up...I learned not to argue.

Here ya go....

The main lock at Wilson is 110 by 600 feet. With a maximum lift of 100 feet, it is the highest single lift lock east of the Rockies.

I'm back in the saddle:thumbsup:
