First time Sea Ray owner. Bought 1993 Express Cruiser 250 late last fall. 260 Mercruiser Alpha 1 Gen 2. Bought it at an RV dealer and did not get a test ride, but ran on muffs. Price was too good to pass up. I am in Northern Ohio and intend to keep the boat at a marina. Since I don't know the history of the I/O should I just do it all, transom kit and water pump?

I would do just that, Replace all the consumable parts and start fresh. I would probably put it in the water first and do a good shake down cruise and make sure you don't need to freshen up the gimbal bearings or steering components as well.

Don't forget to check your fresh water pump and house hold plumbing. Also if you are equipped with a windless make sure your service that bad boy as well

Had a Merc 5.7L with Alpha I for 15years. If you are a "better safe than sorry guy" do, bellows, gimbal bearing, outdrive impeller, and outdrive gear lube. If you are doing test run first, at min I would make sure you have solid water flow from the outdrive exhaust while on muffs. This will tell you the outdrive impeller is not shot. Hopefully its on trailer in driveway so you can play with it.

newbe here. I have a 3 batt system on my 86 300. How do I determine which is the house batt. Also I have a dual batt switch.
