It depends on what type/brand of bottom paint is currently on the boat, assuming it does already have BP.

Can be every year, to every other year, to just a touch up after a couple of years.

OK great thanks......I assume it is a good paint I am buying the boat from a Searay dealer who has serviced the boat since it was purchased. Thanks for the reply!!

Sea Ray comes from the factory with Pettit Hydrocoat. This is an ablative type of paint which means it wears-off with use. Ablative paints do not have to be sanded before re-painting. If the bottom was overcoated with a hard-finish bottom paint, you should sand the bottom before you re-paint and I'd suggest using the Hydrocoat.

Hi I use my boat in salty water and I use and recommend you to every 12 months paint the bottom with international interspeed ultra antifouling and international trilux aerosol antifouling to the drive(s) and the trim tabs.

Hi congrats on the boat. Very nice. What part of the Bay will you be using the boat in. The dealer should be able to tell you the type of paint on there now if they serviced it or heck they might have painted it prior to the sale.

I like the abaltive type paint just because it does not need to be sanded. Depending on conditions (use, location, # of coats on there now...etc...) you may be able to do a touch up at the waterline annually and repaint every other year. Lots of variables.

With the ablative paint if it looks worn down it's affectiveness is limited and its time for more. The smarter folks out there put on one coat of a different color paint, then multiple coats of the final color so that when you see the other color coming through its time for more paint...
