Hi, I just picked up an SRV 180 for the bargain basement price of $1,500. I am very excited to have the boat and hope that all my questions will find answers here.

A gentleman in Dearborn decided to have a footrace to see who could bring him $1,500 in cash the fastest and I won. It was on eBay for about five minutes.

He had it on the market earlier in the year for $2,500 and when he put it in the water found out that reverse was gone, so he took it to a marina and had the lower unit rebuilt in the month before I bought it. It has some flaws but it was garage kept and a day of cleaning did wonders.

I am pretty pleased with it, though it's going to be hard to part with my other boat, "Minimum Wage."

I think it is a 1961 Glassmaster. The motor is a 1969 Evinrude Triumph 55 hp.

Okay, so now I am jealous. I spent a lot of summers at my grandparents place in Charlotte and at their lake house on Lake Wylie, so I got curious and check out Lake Keowee on Bing maps. That looks like an awesome lake, and Asheville is near the top of my list of places I would live if I didn't live in Michigan. Sounds perfect.

Welcome & Very nice! I never seem to be around for deals like that. Congrats! By the way, "Minimum Wage" is also a classy old boat, keep her!

I got to looking at "Minimum Wage" again & realized that a guy I know has one just like it (but it is in pretty rough shape). I'm curious, is there a drain underneath the front seat support that would allow trapped water to escape from the place where you put your feet up front? On his there is not (yes we have done an extensive search) & the only way to get this water out is to bail it out, we thought this was strange & a poor design. The floor & seat supports are all one molded piece & the only drain is in the rear of the boat.

Thanks for the compliment, Chris. I don't think there is any drain like that, though I carpeted the boat in about 1991 so my memory might be mistaken. It has two boxes for the seats that are just fiberglassed to the floor and I had to drill holes in the corners of those to get them to drain properly, but I think the area in the bow just drains through the transom.

Asheville is very cool and the lake is out of sight. So many coves to run in and out of. The other great thing about the lake is it's a power generating lake so you can find water of any temp you want.

Cold at the upper dam, medium in the center and down right hot at the power station. There are many sandy beaches on the many island on the lake.
