New Optimas - Good Price

It's time for new and improved batteries.

After spending a good couple of hours searching the web for the best price, I zeroed in on StreetSideAuto for my Optima 31s.

Free shipping, and since I don't live in MO, no tax. Amazon Prime had them for the same price, but tag on our 10.25% around here, and I save about $70.

That's a good price. My dock mate just got Duracell GP 31 AGMs at Sam's for $180.

Apples and oranges. Duracell is an East Penn Product. The same folks that bring you Deka forklift and ground service equipment batteries at airports.

+1 on the Duracell AGM's. Picked up 4 at Sams myself to replace my Optimas. I was initially going to go back with Optimas, but when you compare specs, the Optima isn't that great. They do look cool, but the extra reserve capacity was more important to me. I got 5 years out of the Optimas. They still load tested good, but had lost more than half of their published reserve capacity.

I had Optimas in my Regal 2465 about 10 years ago and loved them. I went to start replacing batteries in Saint Max and started to buy Optimas. The prices had increase a lot so I started looking for alternatives and came across several articles that discussed a serious decline in quality. Trojans and Rolls were off the wallet map for me so I ended up with wet cells again. I simply cannot justify the cost difference considering the use this boat gets compared to the Regal.
