Hello Everyone,

Greetings from Maryland! We've never owned a boat before but want to be part of the boating community. During this past Spring/Summer season (just moved to Maryland this year), we've discovered that boaters are some of the nicest and helpful people we've ever met. We've been seduced into the boating community I guess you could say.

We've been searching for a boat all summer long and just had an offer accepted (yesterday) on a 1990 350 Sundancer. So now we need to go through the survey and purchase process.

Does anyone know if there a thread about surveyors that are thorough and honest and recommended by members, specifically in the Baltimore area?

Anyway, we are looking forward to learning and gaining knowledge from all of you seasoned boaters!

Have a great day!

Welcome aboard, you'll get plenty of great advice and info here...

Welcome and best of luck with you transaction.

Capt. Steve did a good job for me (http://www.satmarine.com) on my purchase of our 330. He also performed compression testing on the engines which I highly recommend at a minimum given the age of the boat. Also an oil sample which you can do mail order is another great addition you can do yourself if the owner will let you take the oil samples. Blackstone Labs (http://www.blackstone-labs.com) has been used by others on the site here with good results.

We are close by to you! Hope to see you out there before the season ends!!!

Also some hands on training is a great asset, Capt. Steve can do that too. Especially if you are new to boating.

Of course a simple boating safety course either in person or online is great too. But I am sure you know that much as you've been hanging out with the boating crowd.

Take Care!!!
