Hi everyone.
Have been boating for many years on smaller boats. I purchased my 1995 270 Sundancer two years ago but took me awhile to get signed up. Enjoy cruising the Gulf Islands and the San Juans. I'm finding all the forums very helpfull. Looking forward to getting out soon here on the west coast. Sorry to everyone on the east coast battling the long, cold winter. Thanks.

Tim

Welcome.... we did the splash a couple of years ago and had a blast.

Welcome to CSR - you'll find a lot of great information (and some opinions) here.

Welcome aboard Tim. The Admiral and I are from the Cordova Bay area. As kids we used to rent the little putt-putts with the single cylinder engines in them from the Brentwood Bay Marina, $6.50 per day with gas included. Fished a lot out of Pedder Bay too. Admiral was born on a farm in Rocky Point. Yep, we're pretty old. I envy you in your boating area. Probably keep a boat there when we're both retired. Got any pics?

Welcome aboard!

Thanks for all the replies. Will post some pictures soon. Ya, great cruising in some nice sheltered waters around here, and spectacular scenery with the mountains in the background. Wont be long now. Thanks again.

Welcome Tim , your killing me that's what I want to do before retirement is cruise the San Juans maybe hire a trawler and a captain to take me wife and I on a dram of a lifetime

Bare boat Charters out of Anacortes WA and with some quick study YOU could run the boat anywhere up here.....

If you plan on spending time in the San Juans buy a Washington State pass http://www.parks.wa.gov/648/Moorage . The Washington State Marine Parks are very nice. Good walking trails. If you do not belong to a Yacht Club join one that has a good selection of reciprocals in both the Golf Islands and in Washington. We belong to Ladysmith Yacht Club. Nice group of people and the fees are 125 a year you get your money back after staying at two reciprocal clubs.
July and August place will be full most of the time but the rest of the year there is always a place to tie up or buoy to. We like to go down to Olympia in September. Not too many people and good place to eat. The Golf Islands are nice but tend to have less services.
With your boat you should be able to see it all at a good speed. We used to run our 28 footer at 24 knots an hour burnt 1 liter a minute.
If you want details on places PM me as we spend 300 hours or so a year on the boat. Once you get some experience you can head north to Desolation Sound and beyond.

Welcome Tim - Dave and ajennifer here, west Vancouver. We moved up here from Kirkland last year so are enjoying desolation right now but SJ's are heaven as well.

Did Desolation two summers ago. Okeover, Prideaux Haven, Refuge Cove, Squirrel Cove, Teakerne Arm, Von Donop, Gorge Harbour. This summer I would like to trailer and launch at Browns Bay, north of Campbell River. Do Octopus Islands, Big Bay on Stuart Island, Shoal Bay, Blind Channel Resort etc. Have only been as far south as La Conner. Plan to head to Lake washington, Seattle, Gig Harbour and areas probably next year.

You will love Octopus islands. Very similar to Prideaux Haven without all the traffic.

Welcome aboard CSR. We've boated in the SJ's but never got into Vancouver. We're planning a trip that direction but it won't be this year for a variety of reasons.

Everyone who boats has heard of the wonderful boating in the PNW. Pictures are great but they really don't do it justice. Bring 'em on nonetheless because we all like to see people enjoying their boats in beautiful country.
