Thanks for the welcome Nehalennia.

Hardwood would look great. You would still have the option of a drop-in mat (snaps not needed) for those times you want carpet or just to protect the wood. If you get a boat mat made with rib backing it won't leave marks on the wood. Good Luck with your project.

Whats the best source for the replacement snaps and tool for a Searay snap in carpet....how difficult is the process?

I have not done enough research, but I would like to remove the carpet over the winter and come up with a plan. The floor is not flat so coming up with a way to mate with the contours will be my issue. I believe you have much more usuable space that is close to level so I think your's would be easier but more material than mine.
