Hello,
Just found out about this forum. Really glad I was informed. I just got back into boating after a 10 year hiatus. When I got out of boating, I had a 1988 Sea Ray 30' Weekender. When I got back in, I loved that boat so much that I went out and found another. This one is a 1989 (same as the '88 except they took a lot of teak out of the interior) that is in excellent condition. 55o hours.
Just ordered a Simrad AP 1603VF autopilot and a Uniflex Hydraulic System 3 steering conversion kit to eliminate the current rack and pinion mechanical steering system. I selected Simron over Raymarine at a premium of about $500.00. Any opinions? Seems that whomever sells Simrad or Raymarine claim that their product is the better unit.
I'd appreciate any comments you may have. Look forward to hearing from you. Also, I made some nice modifications of the teak on the rear of my boat. I'd be happy to send photos to anyone who has that mode. Made it look more like a 34' Sea Ray Cruiser.
Again, nice to be aboard.
Tony
