Hi all, just bought an 87 SVC 199SS with a Mercruiser 305 V8 and sweet lookin' thru hull exhaust. I bought the boat yesterday. It is such a retro cool looking cuddy that I just couldn't contain myself and had to have it. The previous owner had refinished all of the vinyl and carpet in the interior, rebuilding the doghouse and moving to a dual battery setup. The boat has a whole lot of potential, and even as-is got many  on the lake the past two days. Probably has alot to do with the sound as it sounds very nasty.

I begin my teak resto tomorrow in addition to a fresh couple coats of 3m FG restorer and wax to bring that faded blue back to a little richer color. Further the stripes need to be redone, the Super Sport decals are peeling and the Stingray emblem has faded. Once these minor appearance issues are addressed, the boat should be a real jaw dropper.

Mechanically, the boat is not bad with the exception of some very critical things.

1. Quicksilver Trim switch won't trim up unless using the trailer button. Quite common as I understand. In addition the trim gauge is not working (not that that's necessary but it is desired)

2. BIG ONE - Temp gauge is not working, not sure yet if it's the gauge or the sender, the only 2 hour periods we've had without rain, I was on the lake just checkin her out, not venturing too far from the cove at the ramp.

3. There is a minor leak in the overhead hatch

4. The absolutely awful fuel sending unit that says I never have less or more than a quarter tank.

5. Both radios (CD player and ship-shore) not working and speaker holes cut but not installed (I installed two today.) Have a new stereo, but almost don't even wanna start messing with all that wiring. Probably ditch the standard ship-shore for a hand held unit as the antenna is broken anyway.

And finally, I need a cover badly, but am still checking out online suppliers.

Enough of that...thanks for havin' me!

If you put re in front of tard I think you will have it.

Welcome to CSR, great group of people here. You should put your boat info in your signature line, make, model, drive, it will help in the future when you ask questions as that info will be available to those that can answer.

You guys realize I have a STINGRay, right? Hence, my self slander about being mentally challenged...

Well, that explains all the "problems" you have listed...:lol::grin:

no doubt no doubt, haha. plus the fact that ya know it's 21 years young and has a nonfactory mercruiser v8 from god knows where! :smt021
