Hi Everyone,

we bought our sea ray 215 weekender last year ( a pre-owned 2007) with only 40 hours on it and it's been great. I thought I would get some recommendations on a couple of things if anyone has a moment.

1) GPS, I've seen the Lowrance HDS series...I think it was the 5, and it looked pretty good.

2) has anyone installed a windlass on a boat this size?

3) any other things I should accessorize the boat with to make my boating experience more fun than it already is?

4) would really love to add a swimplatform, but it seems online it's about 2000 bucks.

5) we are in a wet slip this year, and should we bottom paint it ? all the time in freshwater...dry storage was nice but too much diesel dust making the boat dirty everytime we took it out.

below are some pictures of the boat and my wife when we first got it and upgraded from our previous boat of 5 years, including some pics when we traveled with a group from our marina to Charleston, SC. The locks picture is pretty cool.

I can't answer any of your questions.
Welcome to CSR & Congrats on the new toy.

Welcome to CSR and what a GREAT looking boat! Here's what little input I can offer:

1) GPS, I've seen the Lowrance HDS series...I think it was the 5, and it looked pretty good.
HDS is nice, Garmin is very user friendly and less expensive. Jim at BOE on here who sponsors this site has very good prices on them and can get you a package with everything you would need (i.e. cables, transducer, etc.)

2) has anyone installed a windlass on a boat this size?
No help here, mine just came with one and I am still trying to figure it out!

3) any other things I should accessorize the boat with to make my boating experience more fun than it already is?
We like our Magma Grill a lot so far. I always wanted one on our 220 but felt it was overkill.

4) would really love to add a swimplatform, but it seems online it's about 2000 bucks.
No help again sorry, though there is a thread on here about a new swim platform vendor if you use the search option I think!
5) we are in a wet slip this year, and should we bottom paint it ? all the time in freshwater...dry storage was nice but too much diesel dust making the boat dirty everytime we took it out.
We wet slipped our 220 last year and the bottom did get a bit funky when July came around, but a little On & Off Bottom and Hull cleaner and a pressure wash and she cleaned up nice. Do you ever trailer her?

Welcome aboard. Great looking boat. A group of us CSRs did that run to Charleston a couple years ago. Looks like you had more in the lock than we did(Grin) We used to wet slip our 240. No bottom paint, but we would pull her quite often for trips. Each time I would make sure to clean the boat and keep a good coat of wax on her. Okay lets see If I can help on some of the other items.

I'm a Garmin fan. Make sure to check with Jim when you get ready to purchase.

It is up the user, heck I've seen windlass on pontoon boats before.

Shore Power, Power Inverter, Bilge Heater if you want to boat year round, Magma Grill is a must. Remote stereo controller, If you trailer much look into a remote trim switch. Not sure if you have a dual battery system or not, but I would highly recommend it.

IMHO - You're not going to recover your cost when you sell, but for pure enjoyment you can't beat it.

Already addressed.
