Recently I replaced light bulbs in the radar arch, removing GE90 type incandescent and using MarineBeam's TW-GE-15, indicated as the replacement for said GE bulb. I matched up number of contacts as required.
When I flipped the switch the first time (within minutes of finishing, with boat on shore power), they immediately illuminated at full brightness--the cockpit looked almost like it was a sunny day! We had them on for several hours, then turned them off when we retired for the night.
The next night, still on shore power, I flipped the switch and both bulbs were quite dim--less than half the brightness of the previous evening, though equal strength to each other. Left them on while we went for dinner, and they were at full brightness when we returned. We hadn't messed with the fixtures, switches, shore power/cord, or anything else.
Anybody else experience something like this or have any thoughts to explain the behavior???
We'll be back on the boat tomorrow night and on ship's power this weekend to see if it happens again.
