Our work on Saturday...Came out beautiful! We can now launch up to a 50ft boat! One of our members has a 45ft Cigarette and will love this. We put in steel bridge decking that was donated to us to improve our Launch Ramp. Concrete logs support the decking and 2B store will fill the voids under the deck. We used twenty six 55 gallon drums to float it in place (off a trailer) and cut them loose one at a time for a controlled sinking. We were going to use a Track-hoe but this worked out slick. It will be much easier pulling the 270DA out in a few weeks. I spent 4 hours underwater preparing the surface to lay the deck. We used a backhoe to organize the concrete logs that were the old surface that shifted a bit. Water temps are now at 60 degrees and I only wore reef gloves with my full wetsuit.....knuckles are still cramped a bit. We just love boating! End of deck is 6ft under water. Viability is now about 50ft....beautiful water, Mike.

Thanks Boater Rob! We have 54 Docking Members and 115 Trailer Members and an annual budget of $45,000. We try to do all our own work with Members bringing their talents on board to make improvements happen. We added Shore power to all the Cruisers a few years ago and built all our own pedestals to code and saved a lot of money. We only charge $50 a summer for power and the system paid for it's self in 7 years. We have a Master Electrician that built substations and power distribution systems so it was fun for him. Our Mechanical Engineer figured we would need 26 barrels to float the steel deck and he was right on. It just amazes me the talent we have, Mike.

Looks like a great addition to the ramp. It's nice to know you have some good footing to trust when launching/retreveing large boats.
Hope it holds up well for you folks. It sounds like you have the perfect set of members skills wise to keep your dockage well maintained and cost effective for all. Enjoy the last few weeks of boating weather.
