In our 310Da. I went with a garmin 934xsv because of the dash setup and being a V drv. I mounted it by my right knee below the throttle levers. It took me about awhile to figure out everything and get the display the way I wanted it. With The 340Da I went with a Garmin 1042xsv and mounted it in the original location. The touchscreen on the 943 was cool sitting in the marina but on a bumpy day on the lake not so much. Our first trip out on an open lake the chartplotter was set to the flat earth option almost drove the boat off the screen before I thought I figured it out. Not sure how I did it but I got the screen reading south up which is really hard to look at with the boat facing the bottom of the screen . Now the lake was empty when I was poking at the plotter while I was under way with my buddy watching our heading. Finally found the display setting in the menu under chartplotter display and got it to read Heads up. Call me old school but not a fan of Garmins method of the manual being online never can find what I'm looking for or figuring out the correct wording to use the QA section. But both my buddy and I had a good laugh when the screen orientation was all screwed up.

That's a nice unit. A friend of mine had that in his Amberjack. Very nice readable and clear screen. I have the much smaller and less featured 73sv. However, I do like Garmin's integration into Fusion and Active Captain. I also have mine tied into the NMEA engine information as well as my Garmin watch. These units seem to offer a lot of bang for the buck.

I agree with you about the touch screen and when it's choppy. Sometimes approaching islands, I like to zoom in to see the contours and it can be a little tedious. Also, yes, a manual would be nice as an on-hand reference.

I am installing the same 9 inch unit also with radar - in my 1997 400 DA in dash where the tube radar was just to port of the steering wheel
Do you feel this 9inch unit has a large enough visual considering split screen usage ( radar / gps ) in fog ? The 12 in would be real tight and involves innovation in mounting . Just wondering how the 9 inch “feels”

I just put in an 8610xsv. It has the 10 inch screen and a little more square than the 9 inch unit. Replaced the old Raytheon CRT screen almost perfectly.

Ill second the 8610xsv. Have it paired with the Fantom 18. I wanted to install a 743 for a second screen but have other pressing items for this year.

A heading sensor ( mine comes from old ray ST5000 autopilot bridged to nmea2000 seatalk gateway) solves all your problems.

Previous owner put the 743 in. Going to use that for instrumentation.
