Sorry about the messed-up post here - I just copied and pasted this from an email. Just wanted to give out an FYI for anyone that this affects.

Get your new 2010 g2 or g2 Vision card now

In June 2009, Garmin voluntarily chose to globally recall its 2009 version of BlueChart g2 and g2 Vision data cards and cautioned boaters against using that specific version for navigation due to inaccuracies and/or omissions in the way that depth contours and depth areas were displayed.
Any boater who owns a BlueChart g2 or g2 Vision v2009 data card and/or who traded in for a v2008.5 card can now contact Garmin directly to exchange their current card for a 2010 card free of charge, with proof of purchase.

[/FONT]Our records indicate that you may have purchased one of the affected cards. Please contact Garmin directly to return your affected card and receive the 2010 replacement card free of charge. Contact Cartography at 1-800-800-1020 or by email cartography@garmin.com.
Please note that 2008.5 and/or 2009 cards must be returned in order for Garmin to provide the 2010 card free of charge.

They told me that I need my receipt as proof of purchase. I don't quite get that, and of course, I didn't save the receipt from a year ago.

The defect is a potential safety issue. The card is copy-proof and I have the original packing including the barcode.

Wouldn't you think they could verify the card I'm sending is genuine and just replace it?

RollerCoastr, any chance you made the purchase with a credit card......if you did, you might be able to get enough info from your cc company to satisfy Garmin. Just a thought. Good Luck. R

I did, in fact I purchased it from BOE. Soon after posting the above rant however, Garmin Tech Support responded to my inquiry and they appear to be willing to work with me to get the chip replaced.
