I am in the process of having my fuel electric pump replaced, again, after my engine would no longer start from one week to the next. Other than a faulty unit from the factory, which is entirely possible, what else may kill a fuel pump? I certainly don't want to lose another, so I want to make sure that I address all possible issues. Thanks in advance.

I had that happen to me 3 times. Got non OEM pump went 200 knots it failed. Got non OEM in small town north end of Vancouver Island. That one lasted maybe 100 hours. By then I had a spare OEM. All failed with the center of the diaphragm breaking at the rivet. Metal sheared. The original one failed at the valves in it. If I was you I would go get an OEM one keep it as a spare and if the present one fails replace and but an other OEM as a spare. I got good at changing them. Get wheel bearing grease and pack the push rod area in the engine that operates the arm on the pump to hold the rod up when you put the new pump in. Think the one in now has 600+hours on it.
