The main dash panel on my 1987 250 DA somehow cracked at an upper corner, the screws are hanging out not screwed into anything on the entire starboard side of the dash. Any tips on dismantling all of the vinyl trim around the dash would be greatly appreciated.

I bought a piece of 1/4" black ABS that seems to popular at a local Boat Plastic shop. It is smooth on one side and textured on the other. I like the textured side but don't know how I could label the part that holds the switches. The other side is smooth so I guess I could go the veneer route which would give me a smooth surface to add lettering for the switches.

At work we used to label all sorts of equipment by using small plastic labels where you route the letters into the plastic. You then glue or screw them in place. I would think at a shop that does this you have a choice of letter and backgrounds colors. The edges can be beveled, the corners rounded. They can look nice, might work for you.

Search this site for "dash panels". I can't find it now, but there is an email address for "Scott". He makes these new panels and uses a laser to do the engraving.
